MEMBER-STARTED FORUM...

Romeo and Juliet
is arguably Shakespeare's most recognizable play. With that in mind, it is probably no surprise that it has so many adaptations. There is the 1936 version directed by George Cukor, the 1968 version directed by future Razzie nominee, Franco Zeffirelli , and let us not forget the modernizations of the story; West Side Story and Romeo + Juliet. You may think that a movie trending back to where the story originally took place would at least be a guarantee to be watchable, right?

Sadly, no. Reviews so far have not been too kind on this latest version have not been too kind. Why,you may ask? Some seem to say that it seems like a tired with nothing new added. Some say that they subtly missed the point. Some say the film was horribly mis-cast. What ever the case is, it will not look good for
Oscar nominee, Hailee Steinfeld, and what at first seemed like a breakout role for Douglas Booth will instead make him just another pretty boy in Hollywood. Don't worry about Paul Giamatti. He's got other things lined up.

So what do you guys think? A strong contender for Worst Remake and/or Rip-off?

Elizabeth Hartman and Judith Barsi are more talented and beautiful than Scarlett Johansson and Chloe Grace Moretz. Fact.

Worst Supporting Actor: Brendan Fraser/Gimme Shelter and The Nut Job

Well, I guess it's O.K. to make this forum since HeadRAZZ probably won't make it. He rarely makes more than one in the same week.

And don't forget about GNOMEO & JULIET (which has a forum here), and, ROMEO MUST DIE, which currently ranks #19/73 (right below BABY GENIUSES) in my all-time worst list.

Don't forget, Julian Fellowes (writer of Downton Abbey) wrote the screenplay for this, so I guess he can be nominated for his first RAZZIE!

I found this article/review that showed a major problem with the movie: they dumbed down the dialogue.
