When the first film was almost universally loathed...shouldn't you bring in a new team to make the second one? Here's a LINK to see if the crix at R.T. are any nicer to ANGELS & DEMONS than they were to its RAZZIE®-Nominated "sequel," THE DA VINCI CODE...

Getting a Clue: One of the ways you can tell a film is likely to suck is if its opening day print ads feature NOT ONE CRITIC QUOTE ( like ANGELS & DEMONS' ads yesterday). Another reliable indicator is when a film's print ads quote one (or more) of a handful of reviewers known in The Biz as "quote whores," critics who've been quoted on so many movies' ads that their so-called "opinions" mean nothing anymore. Prominent among well-known "QWs" are such names as CNN's Larry King (who isn't even a film critic) Pete Hammond (whose quotes seem never to actually appear in print anywhere but movie ads) and Jeff Craig of "Sixty Second Preview" (whose quotes suggest he may moonlight as a movie ad copywriter). So guess which three critics were ALL quoted in Saturday's L.A. Times print ad for ANGELS & DEMONS...

Mystery solved??

I'm surprised the following review wasn't quoted in the ads:

"Eh..It's good."
Michelle Alexandria of Eclipse Magazine.

But in all seriousness, it's kind of a shame that the "at least it's better than Da Vinci Code" word of mouth is going down the tubes. Da Vinci ended up with 24% favorable at R.T. while this one's now all the way down to 37%.

From what I have read, it's being called the most boring movie of the year. Ouch!

I wouldn't call it "boring" per se, just kinda...dull.

I mean, how could a script that uses the word "Illuminati" 3 billion times be called boring? I'd say it's Illuminati-rrific!

Did you know?

The word Sparta, or some form of it, was used an average of .62 times per minute in the movie 300.

That is a Sparta-stic bit of trivia. Very Illuminati-ng.

They should have Ron Howard and Zack Snyder work on a movie.... I call it "The 300 Illuminati" The entire script would just be the words "Illuminati" and "Sparta"

Ya know, I really think Benedict XVI would make a good Xerxes. He probably has the legs for it. If I was at home, I may have had a photoshop project to work on.

Benedict already has his movie fame... I remember when he played the Emperor in all those Star Wars movies...

I've only seen him shoot people with lightning bolts like 10 or 11 times since he became Pope.

I saw him doing the force choke once... Apparently, one of the Cardinals had refused to call him Darth Benedict...

I thought all Darths needed a word that you could add an "in" to before. Like Darth Sidious, Darth Vader, and Darth Vitrofertilization.

Bah... I'm gonna lay this one to bed.
Angels & Demons doesn't sound like it's going to be getting it's rating bumped any higher.
