Let me know about your thoughts of Steve Martin and tell me if you think he will get a Razzie nomination for this film. My thoughts are he'll get a Razzie nomination. All you guys have to reply to try and think the same. Also, make your thoughts, should THE PINK PANTHER have been directed by a different director? My thoughts say, "Yes, because I think Shaun Levy was the wrong choice!"

YES, Steve Martin deserves not only the Razzie nomination, he deserves the RAZZIE, PERIOD!

When Blake Edwards indicated he wanted NOTHING to do with this
Candygram filled with ROAD APPLES, That ALONE should indicate that this should have NEVER been made.

There is only ONE FUNNY Clouseau and that is Peter Sellers. Others--Roger Moore, Alan Arkin, Roberto Benigni and the hopelessly inept Ted Wass tried and all failed. Only William Shatner got away with it and he DIDN'T play Clouseau for laughs. Even Shat KNOWS that you can only get so many laughs from Fart Jokes, something Steve (aka "The Jerk") Martin forgot...
2013's WORST PICTURE--InAPPropriate Comedy. WORST ACTOR-Rob Schneider & Adrian Brody WORST ACTRESS-Lindsay Lohan! WORST SUPPORTING ACTRESS--Kim Kardashian! WORST DIRECTOR--The Sham Wow Man!

Hey, don't forget, Roberto Benigni got a Razzie nomination when he did a Pink Panther film, SON OF THE PINK PANTHER.

It's too bad that Benigni can't come up with another good film after LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL. PINOCCHIO ruined his career, one year after he wins an oscar!

I noticed today that my local video store, Wegmans, has already put "pre-viewed" copies of the "Pink Panther" up for sale.   Normally, they don't put these copies out so early, unless  rentals were really slow.   Like Blockbuster, Wegmans will initially have 50 copies of a hoped for best seller on display.   Popular movies will continue to claim large amounts of shelf space in a prominent position.Movies that bomb move quickly to the budget bin.

Seeing "Pink Panther" for sale so fast indicates it had a short shelf life.   Ironically, the clerk told me copies of the original Peter Sellers series are steady sellers.   I hate seeing Steve Martin in bad movies, he is Hollywood's smartest comedic actor and yet he contracts to appear in some of Hollywood's worst movies...

I hate to break it to you all, but there is some more bad news on the way!
Steve Martin just got married!
Ok big deal, right?  Ahh, but you see he greeted his wedding guests sporting a new mustache.
Why?
Because he has started working on PINK PANTHER-2 !!
.
Yes, Steve Martin, who I personally like, continues down the road to oblivion by making another sequel to a film that cannot be remade by anyone other then Peter Sellers.
I wonder what Steve will say when someone does a remake of LA Story?

Why PINK PANTHER 2?? Perhaps because, as comedian Bobcat Goldwaith once said of Police Academy 3  "There were unanswered philosophical questions left over from the first one"...???

More likely, a dime left on the table. There is no doubt in my mind that it will make money. But as Ian Malcolm said in Jurassic Park, "John, your people figured out they could do it, but no one ever stopped to ask if they should."

Yet another Steve Martin sequel! The most recent was CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN 2, which I did enjoy but wouldn't die if it was never made. And CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN was a good movie, unlike THE PINK PANTHER!!!
