QuoteReplyTopic: The BERRY WORST Movie of 2010 (Thru Aug. 31) Posted: August 22 2010 at 10:57am
WHEN THIS FIRST POSTED, WE WERE JUST OVER 2/3 of the WAY THROUGH 2010, and THERE WUZ CERTAINLY NO LACK of CONTENDERS for THE 31st ANNUAL RAZZIE® AWARDS.
AS a FUN END-of-SUMMER/START-of-FALL DIVERSION, WE THOUGHT WE'D ASK YOU, OUR REGULAR (and/or IRREGULAR) VISITORS to GIVE US SOME FEEDBACK by VOTING for WHAT YOU CONSIDER the BERRY WORST MOVIE of 2010...SO FAR!
ABOVE, WE'VE LISTED WHAT WE CONSIDER the DOZEN "LIKELIEST" WORST PICTURE CONTENDERS from AMONG the 335 FILMS RELEASED BETWEEN JANUARY 1 and AUGUST 31st. CRITERIA for THE 12 TITLES LISTED in THIS POLL INCLUDED: BOX OFFICE RETURNS (OR LACK THEREOF), CRITICAL RATINGS (AT BOTH META-CRITIC and ROTTEN TOMATOES), LIVELINESS & TONE of EACH FILM's FORUM DISCUSSION...and PAST RAZZIE® HISTORY of EACH FILM's MAKERS & CAST (WHAT WE CALL a FILM's "RAZZIE® PEDIGREE").
FEEL FREE to VOTE for YOUR "FAVORITE" (IF THAT's EVEN the RIGHT TERM in THIS CONTEXT!) THEN POST YOUR THOUGHTS, SUGGESTIONS and REACTIONS BELOW...
LINKS to FORUM DISCUSSIONS & INFO on the 12 TITLES LISTED:
DISCLAIMER: THIS IS NEITHER a SCIENTIFIC POLL, NOR DOES INCLUSION in THIS POLL IMPLY THAT the CHOICES LISTED WILL EVEN BE INCLUDED on the NOMINATING BALLOT for THIS YEAR's RAZZIES® -- IT's REALLY JUST for FUN...
I'd have to say that Furry Vengeance and A Nightmare on Elm Street [remake] are worse than The Wolfman and Clash of the Titans [remakes].
And the worst of all? That's easy. Vampires Suck!
RAZZIE Dirty Dozen: Battlefield Earth, F G Fingered, Pluto Nash, A Sound of Thunder, Alone in the Dark, Dirty Love, Rise Silver Srfr, Daddy Day Camp, IKWKM, The Love Guru, All About Steve, Airbender
The 12 choices listed are a reasonable cross-section of the many kinds of "product" that have constituted the worst output of a truly awful year for movies -- with the notable omission of anything from the Razzie evergreen "genre" of "Torture Porn"...but then, SAW 3-D hasn't come out yet!!
RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: Unless it does berry well at the box office (which God knows it might!) SAW 3-D may well be the Death Knell for the so-called "Torture Porn" genre. For the morbidly curious, here's a LINK to see the HD trailer for it on YouTube -- We were happy to note that, as of this posting (about NOON/PST on August 22) it had less than 27,000 "hits"...
Oh, so hard to single out one, and there are still some wild cards in the deck such as "Burlesque" and possibly unexpected contenders such as "Tron Legacy"...
I know this isn't the final choices for Worst Picture, but I'm pretty sure it will be down to "Last Fart Bender" and "Vampires Suck". The former was just badly made and the latter just shouldn't have been made at all.
PS: It sucks being Ken Jeong, being in both "Furry Vengeance" and "Vampires Suck", not to mention last year's "All About Steve". The dude needs a new agent.
The Four Horsemen of the Moviepocalypse: uncalled for sequels/remakes/reboots, 3-D surcharges, untalented "celebrities", and anything with Michael Bay's name attached to it.
Twilight is a nuisance and a symbol of cultural decay...and Fartbender shows how l-o--o-o-o-w M. Night can go. Hex has Megan Fox. And Furry is actually getting panned worse on IMDB (a resident in the Bottom 100) than anything else released this year.
Still, I chose Vampires Suck. Seltzer-Berg is a disease, making our society stupid...er. They are an insult to all mankind, and they are setting Americans back decades. If there is a Second Great Depression, maybe it's their fault -- their "movies" made people stupid enough to let it happen again!
The fact Vampires Suck opened as the second-highest-grossing movie of the week is reason enough to hate it! It's like the perfect coupling of stuff that's ruining American society: Selterberg movies...and "Twilight!"
The Four Horsemen of the Moviepocalypse: uncalled for sequels/remakes/reboots, 3-D surcharges, untalented "celebrities", and anything with Michael Bay's name attached to it.
Please explain to me why Grown Ups is not mention in this, not only did it have a worse cast then the Expendables (DAVID SPADE AND ROB SCHNEIDER FOR CHRISTS SAKE!), but was horribly unfunny and was just an embarrassment to comedy, which if you consider the state of comedy right now in Hollywood is an achievement in itself.
RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: While reviews on GROWN-UPS were among the worst of the year (R.T. LINK) it was hardly a box office bomb, grossing about twice what it cost to make and getting a respectable B-minus from MoJo users (B.O. MoJo LINK). Plus, the RAZZIE® Forum on it (LINK) never generated the degree of disrespect one usually looks for in a Prime RAZZIE® Contender.
Also, keep in mind, just because it wasn't included in this poll doesn't mean it won't be included somewhere on this year's RAZZIE® Nominating Ballot...
I don't have pet peeves, I have major psychotic f**king hatreds! George Carlin
I think the Razzies keep delaying nominations for those 5 guys's movies because they've already won in the past, they'll continue to have chances to be nominated, and it would be fair to give others a chance.

I know you're all
against the franchise, and the lattest were'nt very good because they
felt like the 3rd season of LOST:It seemed it would never end so they
dragged on filling a lot.But this will be last one.I really hope they
tie loose ends, like what happened to Cary Elwes's character.

Yeah.It's not like he
was just some doctor who one day got discovered by Judd Apatow and rose
to fame with THE HANGOVER,which wasn't the best comedy of 2009,and
COMMUNITY,which wasn't the best new sitcom.Actually,it wasn't,but it was
close.
Yeah, I noticed Grown-Ups was missing, too. What's up with that, considering most (if not all) of the cast are only in the movie because of being buddy-buddy with Sandler?

Indeed. The irony of it all is that one of them was an unfunny comedy, and the other was a hilarious comedy by accident!!

I was going to ask about Grown Ups as well...I'd bet that it would give Last Airbender a fair run for its money.
