This movie surely looks like a huge pile of dino droppings, but the very WORST acting in this dud is perpetrated by Jorma Taccone , whose embarrasing performance as Cha-Ka(!) should get him thrown out of the entertainment industry (one can only hope) ...

It really says something about how bad a movie is when the board for the movie wanders off subject all the way to discussing moviewizguy. . . .

Well, from my experience, wondering off topic seems to be par for course...  I don't think a single movie board has stayed on topic for long... I suppose the discussing MWG might be unusual, though...

Crap...1100 posts since February... Note to Frank: Get a Life outside the boards...

Yea, I gave up trying to keep up. I mean, I'm pretty damn bad, and you're lapping me here.

Thankfully, as of this writing, the movie is getting blown away by "The Hangover" and "Up". I don't think it will have time to recover.

Wow... it'll be probably just over $20m by the end of today. That's a lot better than I was expecting out of the American public. Kudos, chaps... Kudos... Note, the top 2 movies are both original and enjoyed by critics. How often do we see that these days?
On a side note: Hulu has episodes of the original LotL online right now, if you're so inclined to take a look. I was watching some while playing FIFA 2009, so I was a bit distracted and busy yelling at imaginary referees, but what I saw was interesting. It seemed like kind of a low-budget public access show. By the standards of the time it was made.

Ok, while I can say that the Number one and Number two movies both can be called original, I can't help but think that the screenwriters for "The Hangover" might have been heavily influenced by "Dude, Where's My Car." Perhaps I am just seeing similarities that no one else is seeing there, but...meh.

"LotL" is being called the first bomb of the summer. Good, because considering it was made for $100 million, the CGI looked like it was made for only $5 million. Like all SNL rejects, Will Farrell is now going to have to figure out how to retool his act, because the public now sees him for the one-trick pony that he is. Do I smell "Old School 2" in the works?

Meanwhile: "Star Trek" is officially the one and only movie of the year to make over $200 million thus far. Will the s***fest that will be "Transformers 2: The Wraith Of Michael Bay" be able to top that? It depends how many times Megan Fox takes her clothes off for no reason ... or how many times Shia Lebeouf yells "NO-NO-NO-NO-NO-NO-NO!"

I sadly don't think Megan Fox will be allowed to take her clothes off for no reason, or any reason for that matter, in Transformers 2. I do however believe that they will make sure that the sets she is present on are always very warm places, I doubt you are going to see the Fox going anywhere that would require putting on extra clothing.

And as far as Will Ferrell being a one trick pony, I don't think I'd give him that much credit. He's more like the pony that got born with some form of rare mental disorder, that makes it do nothing but chase it's tail around all day, and the owners find it too loveable to shoot and put out of its misery, so instead they charge people money to watch the pony chase its tail, occassionally putting odd hats on the pony to convince the people that it is a different act...

1) I thought ShyBeef yelled the names of various Autobots for attention
2) I still think The Hangover looks more like "Very Bad Things" than My Close Friend, Are you able to Locate my Automobile?

Sample of a scene from Transformers 2:

ShyBeef: OPTIMUS!

(Megan Fox poses all sexy like stuff blows up in the background.)

ShyBeef:OOOOOOOPPPPPTIMUS!!!

Repeat ad nauseum.

As far as the similarities to Dude, Where's My Car, I am speaking of the basic premise, of friends getting completely wasted, and then spending the entire movie trying to find something that they lost while wasted.

I thought I heard him yelling "Bumblebee!" in the preview... I'm aware of Optimus, too, but I'm saying, he'll probably just start yelling out others now too... "MEGATRON! STAR SHRIEK! CHENEYBOT!"

I get the Dude reference, too, but the whole Vegas trip gone awry reminds me of the far less famous VBT.

So perhaps it's more like "Dude, Where's my Very Bad Things?" ...That sounds like some kind of twisted porn title...

Oh Boy! Cheneybot is going to be in the next Transformers movie? I'm going to have to spend that entire day watching the movie, then... awareness of Cheneybot must be raised!

He transforms into a man-sized safe. That scrambles Googe Earth images of his current location. And if you get too close to it, it shoots you in the face with birdshot.

You almost described the footage that was leaked online, except it was Bubmlebee who ShyBeef was yelling at and Megan Fox was randomly changing her clothes for whatever reason. Not a good sign.

The first movie seemed like a bad enough sign to me.
