I still think Keanu Reeves should have won for Much Ado About Nothing.  I guess his saving grace is that he was a "man of few words"?

Is it correct to say 1993 was the worst year for erotic thrillers?

Yes, yes it was. But do erotic thrillers really make for good movies? All they really are softcore porn with murder mystery subplots.

A lot of things can be worst but they can be right after some time.

Wait, are you saying these movies were misunderstood and became better over time? I don't think so!

But the restaurant "give me your panties" scene in Sliver is so hilarious!

Yeah, 1993 wasn't a good year for "erotic thrillers!"

I just saw BOXING HELENA, and I'm confused with its being nominated. I thought the directing sort of saved it. I also liked the music a lot. The photography...well, it made it look like softcore porn, which I guess is good. But something strange about the 2 leads: in some scenes they gave good performances, and in others they gave bad performances. It deserved to be nominated for:

1)Worst Picture: Overall, it's a bad movie. It goes nowhere, and I don't think it intends to. Bottom line: A guy with mommy issues and amputee fetishes "kidnaps" the girl he's obsessed with, and claims he loves her even though she always insults him. I thought they were gonna deeply analyze the psychology of this, but they didn't. I also expected some Stockholm Syndrome. We see shades of it but, of course, with no analysis. And the ending is so dumb because it contradicts everything we saw. Also,if it was all a dream from him(or maybe her?),why did some scenes show the perspective from other characters?

2)Worst Screenplay: The premise may be interesting, but it appears Lynch has never interacted with another human being,'cuz in every scene, I don't believe any of the characters' actions. And the symbolism is obvious as hell.

3)If there was a category for the worst editing,it should have been up for that too.

I give it 1/10(could've been 0).

When I saw Body of Evidence With Madonna and Willem Dafoe, there was this scene where Rebecca poured hot candle wax on Frank's right nipple...KINKY!
I love Murder mysteries.

I never understood why Cliffhanger was nominated for Worst Picture. It was actually well-recieved by most critics (maybe not so much back then, but hey it has 83% on rotten tomatoes based on 33 reviews), and was one of Stallone's better recieved, and biggest non-rocky/Rambo hits. Plus both of my movie guides gave it three stars. Were you guys really all that against Stallone back then?

I'm not sure, since Stallone himself wasn't nominated. Well, he was up for Worst Screenplay, but if what you're saying were true, he would've also been up for Worst Actor (and maybe Worst Screen Couple).

What do you mean? I also see it under worst picture, worst supporting actor, and worst supporting actresses.

Yeah I know Cliffhanger isn't the worst movie of all time, but I really don't see what could possibly have made it a made worst picture nom, aside from starring Stallone.
