Well, the character that John Hurt plays in the movie considers himself a woman (sort of...). What I meant is that they should've been nominated and not Sean Young. Sometimes the Razzies are so obsessed with certain actors, they keep nominating them over and over for whatever they do, they loss the opportunity to "reward" even less talented and more Razzie-worthy people (John Hurt is rarely razzie worthy but his performance here is terrible). I forgot to mention Pat Morita

I find Cowgirls more offensive because it's a typical pre-Good Will Hunting Van Sant film, except it lacks the magic that his other indie flicks had.  If you go to see a remake of Psycho expecting it's going to be a good movie, you had it coming lol! My own private idaho was a beautiful masterpiece and then he came up with THIS? Cry

Sean Young is an ACTRESS and I don't see Keanu Reeves or John Hurt ever being nominated for any Actress, or even like Young for Cowgirls, Supporting Actress awards anywhere for what should be obvious reasons.

And how exactly is Even Cowgirls Get The Blues any more offensive or worse in any way than the Psycho remake Van Sant did which earned him a Razzie for Worst Director?

I already saw the movie "Even cowgirls get the blues" and this might be Gus van sant's worst film. I would describe it as My own private idaho's evil twin sister

Same locations, same actors, same director, same themes but with repulsive characters instead and a very incomprehensible  plot... This should've been nominated for worst picture, because Color of the night is much better than Cowgirls. And it seems like the Razzies had a twisted crush on Sean Young at the time, because I didn't even notice her in this film. John Hurt or Keanu Reeves should've been nominated instead of Young

Even Cowgirls Get the Blues is one of the few films by Gus Van Sant I haven't seen but Siskel and Roger Ebert described it a "real disappointment"... how bad was it?

FUN UPDATE from Head RAZZberry: It's alwaze amusing to watch former RAZZIE® "Winners" make public asses of themselves. In that light, here's a LINK to watch a YouTube video of 1994 Worst Director "Winner" (and Worst Actor nominee) Steven Seagal doing his interpretation of a traditional Chechen "dance"...

ENJOY!

OK, now I know what's wrong THE FLINTSTONES. But Jim Carrey? He's what made THE MASK so good... for others. I gave it a 4/10.

They are too pretty boy for the Razzie voters, I guess.

But my question is: How could that possibly make North look tame?

I guess the Razzie voters didn't see whatever "chemistry" you thought they had...

My guess is it's because they came across like a pasty white, gay couple.

This is the kind of variety the 2005 and 2009 awards should've had.

And how was North so much "better" than Color of Night?

RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: If you were around in 1994, you might recall that both NORTH and COLOR OF NIGHT were infamous box office and critical "flops" -- thus both of them were Worst Picture nominees. But COLOR OF NIGHT, because of the attendant publicity from Bruce Willis doing "full frontal nudity" in a swimming pool scene (YouTube LINK) was by far the more notorious title. Plus which, NIGHT (YouTube TRAILER LINK) was actually entertainingly awful, while NORTH was a stillborn thing that just lay on the screen, amusing no one (except maybe those who actively resented its director, Rob Reiner)...
