I wouldn't call The Postman worse than the Batman film, but in a way it's appropriate that the Razzies recognized it because it's one of those films that's entertaining in a completely different way from what the filmmakers intended. I actually find it much easier to sit through than Costner's Dances with Wolves, which is also ludicrously self-important but just dull as all hell. The Postman is bad in a more enjoyable way.
Contrast that with Schumacher's film, which was intended from the outset to be silly & campy, but went so far overboard that it became an annoying bore. I think that if it had come out now it would have swept the board (stupid comedies & action pictures do better at the Razzies than they used to, it seems) but self-important vanity projects seemed to be the voters' favorite at this point: 1989, 1990, 1991, 1996, 1997, 1998 etc.

Watched The Postman last night. While it was insanely terrible, it wasn't on the same level of terrible as Batman & Robin...

RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: BATMAN & ROBIN entered the 1997 RAZZIE® race with 11 nominations, the most of any title that year, but wound up with only one "win" (LINK). B&R also received slightly better reviews (R.T. LINK) than POSTMAN did (R.T. LINK). POSTMAN wound up as the only Worst Picture nominee ever to "win" every RAZZIE® for which it was nominated (LINK). Guess our Voting Members at the time thought, stinky as it was, BATMAN & ROBIN at least recouped a substantial portion of its budget (B.O. MoJo LINK) while POSTMAN, the living definition of "vanity production," cost and lost a fortune (B.O. MoJo LINK). It was probably also a factor in POSTMAN's "favor" that it featured a major RAZZIE® "target" of the 1990s, Kevin Costner (who ranks second only to Stallone as our Awl-Time Male Cham-Peen (LINK)..

I would guess yes, since musical taste varies from person to person, but bad movies can be more easily agreed upon.

Why did you give a Razzie to "The End is The Beginning is The End" from BATMAN & ROBIN, Written by Billy Corgan?? This song is not bad -- I liked this song!

You're not listening me! I liked FACE/OFF. I just hated the directing. I also hated JACKIE BROWN, and I know you couldn't nominate it for "Worst Picture" but "Worst New Star" for Chris Tucker was a possibility. Nothing against him, but that's what I thought the movie deserved, and Tucker was already nominated for that.

Yeah, "Face/Off" was pretty bad, but "The Postman" and "Batman & Robin" made it look like a masterpiece by comparison.

You're suggesting all these well-received movies should've gotten RAZZIE nominations. Why can't you focus this more on panned movies instead?

I forgot to say that I mentioned that JACKIE BROWN because it also came out that year, so Tucker could've been nominated.

I guess the Razzie voters hated Tori THAT much! I mean, come on, she wouldn't have a career at all had it not been for who her daddy was.
