DISCLAIMER from Head RAZZberry: As I have expressed elsewhere on this Forum, I find the idea of posting and discussing "potential nominees" from our past 31 year who failed to receive enough votes to actually be nominated almost the dictionary definition of "a waste of time." Given that this current string seems to include "anecdotal" and "unconfirmed" info about past RAZZIE® Nominating Ballots (some of which is utterly inaccurate) I feel compelled to point out that this thread (and its contents) are NOT in any way officially endorsed by The Golden Raspberry Award Foundation or myself as the Founder/Creator of the RAZZIE® Awards…

How is it that Paul Giamatti has been on the Nominating Ballot TWICE (2002 and 2006), while Martin Lawrence has somehow NEVER made the Final Ballot? Oh, and Cameron Diaz was not worse than Eva Longoria (in 2008), nor was she worse than the inexplicably not-on-the-ballot Kate Hudson (Alex & Emma AND How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days) in 2003, one of MANY omissions that
... RESPONSE from Head RAZZberry: This kind of thing, encouraging "stressing out" over things that might have been, as opposed to focusing on what was actually nominated by us over our 31 year history, is exactly why I did not encourage the listing of this particular Forum... To answer your specific query: Giamatti never actually made it onto the Final Ballot, and neither did Martin Lawrence, so as far as being RAZZIE® nominees, neither has a leg up on the other... |

Never saw Big Fat Liar, but Giamatti's acting in Lady In The Water was dismal. Martin Lawrence is a disappointing omission, but he's probably gonna be on it this year for Big Mommas 3. Cameron Diaz makes Eva Longoria look like Meryl Streep. I haven't seen Alex & Emma yet, so I can't completly judge Hudson's acting in that.

1) I thought Giammatti's performance in LADY IN THE WATER was praised...or at least called "the only good thing about it." As for BIG FAT LIAR...he was over-the-top, but I thought it was appropiate...and funny.
2)Longoria is a good actress in DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, but basically reprised her role in the movie. Diaz has had her share of bad performances (and good, too) so I don't feel they're comparable.

1)DeNiro not for MACHETE? 2)I thought Shirley MacLaine was chosen over Swift. 3)I haven't seen it, but isn't Rodriguez supporting? She was in the 1st movie. 4)Again with the cameos? 5)But he's in one scene with the balls! 6)Willis was supporting. 7)Butler was the lead in one movie, and the co-lead in the other. 8)Christensen was the lead. 9)Wasn't Flitter also there for another movie? 10)Moore was the lead in both movies. 11)Berry and Willis weren't a couple. 12)Keaton was the shrill and spoiled, not her daughters. 13)Enough with the cameos! |

I've been doing some more research and I've found some un-verified info. The info came from some Razzie voters, but they could be write-ins. If I get anything wrong, tell me and I'll take them down. I'll have them listed with two asteriks.

Back when Forum polls were up last year, a lot of people (including myself) complained that Swift wasn't on there... So I think that the HeadRAZZ put her on the ballot for that reason.... I personally still think that Swift should have "won."
Maybe a special mention that Stallone was only on the e-Nominating Ballot and not on the paper-ballot...

Really? I guess that's why Diaz still has a leading-role career, and "Meryl" Longoria hasn't had a movie role of any kind since 2008's Over Her Dead Body (which bombed big-time, despite the presence of Paul Rudd). As for Kate Hudson in Alex & Emma (another mega-dud), she was awful in SEVERAL different roles and accents (none convincing), definitely deserving of a place in the 2003 ballot (and let's not mention the rest of her career's *downward* trajectory -- at least not at this time)...

Over Her Dead Body flopping is why Langoria doesn't have a film career. What Happens In Vegas was another terrible movie, but, somehow, it made a lot of money*. Movies that make more money than they deserve get a lot of scorn around here. Flops can get recignition if they bomb hard enough to kill a career (i.e. The Love Guru). Over Her Dead Body flopped "softly": it didn't make a lot of money, but it wasn't expected to.
*My theory is that people saw the poster and assumed that Cameron Diaz would play the Joker and would do terrible things to Ass-face. I'd pay a LOT to watch that movie!

I'll try to explain them to the best of my abilities: Joyce Van Patten wasn't very good as Rob Schneider's lover. The 3D in Piranha was taked-on and bad-looking in some places. Watchmen was very love it or hate film. Yara Shahadi was very annoying. Ed Helms was TERRIBLE in Meet Dave. Paulie Litt was almost as bad Shahadi. Thandie Newton was hilariously bad in W. Paula Patton was very meh in both of her roles. Even Kristen Dunst didn't like her acting in Spider-Man 3. I haven't seen Goya's Ghosts, but I've seen Mr. Magorium and she was bland in it. John C. McGinley's role in Wild Hogs was terrorfying. Kathy Bates was disappointing in P.S. I Love You, haven't seen Fred Claus yet. Keira Knightley was pretty bad in At World's End. Susan Sarandon's acting wasn't up to par with her usual performance. Spider-Man 3's plot was full of holes. 300 was love it or hate it. Don't have any explanation for Jim Carrey and Jim Carrey; I would have had it as Jim Carrey and the number 23. Giamatti, Hanks, and Penn's acting were poor compared to their usual input. Bob Babalon was a symbol for Shamwow's massive ego. At one point in Failure To Launch, we see Bradshaw's ass: his place on the ballot is justified. Dreyfuss was stiff in Poseidon. Ann-Margret gave two limp performances. Alex Borstein is only good as Lois Griffin. MI III had a couple plot-holes. Edward Burns was pretty bad in A Sound Of Thunder. Johnny Depp scared me in Charlie And The Chocolate Factory. Monster-In-Law was Jane Fonda first movie role in years; it SHOULD have been better than a J.Lo vehicle. Nicole Kidman desecrated Elizabeth Montgomery's legacy. Willem Dafoe performance was comparable to his Razzie-nominated turn in Speed 2. Julian McMahon played Dr. Doom all wrong. Terence Stamp should have been better in Elektra. Carrie Fisher was stiff in Undiscovered. Tom Hanks' roles in The Bi-Polar Express was excreciable. Dennis Quiad chewed the scenary in both of those movies; if anything the lack of Flight Of The Phoenix should be more questionable. There was a dead serious scene in Catwoman where Frances Conroy gives Halle Berry a ball of yarn. Carmen Electra's never been good. Halle Berry was terrible in Gothika. Spencer Breslin is the worst child actor ever. Sean Hayes wasn't so bad as the boss, but annoying as hell as the fish. I wanted to throttle Dakota Fanning in The Cat In The Hat. There's a scene in The Cat In The Hat where they ride Amy Hill like a boat*. And I haven't seen Big Fat Liar.
Also, I'm almost done re-watching The Butterfly Effect and it's not as bad as I remember, but still pretty bad.
*I can't remember if it was a water-park or a river. I'm sure as Hell not re-watching it.

I'm sorry, but a lot of your explanations were that the roles were bad, not the performances.
2)I gave GOYA'S GHOSTS 6/10.Natalie was OK. 3)Penn gave an over-the-top "look at me" performance, but that wasn't necessarilly bad.Look at Christian Bale in THE FIGHTER(7/10). 4)So? 5)Are you saying she's not good as LOIS? 7)So? 8)I don't remember much of the movie, but I remember it was a small role where she was meant to act like she does in real life and in most movies. 10)Why? 11)So? The other numbers were performances praised by most critics.

My point EXACTLY, SchuH8ter; Langoria was so AWFUL in Over Her Dead Body, which I think was the reason it tanked ($7.5 mil domestic) and no one will hire her for movies anymore. Even Paul Rudd (a much better actor to play off of than Asston Kutcher) couldn't help...

Paul Rudd also couldn't help How do you know from becoming one of the biggest flops of all time. So why isn't Reese Witherspoons career in the gutter?
Also I doubt that film flopping is the reason why she isn't acting in any more movies. Plently of actors get around doing flop after flop. |

Reese Witherspoon has more of a track record than Longboreia does (How Do You Know was probably James L. Brooks worst-received movie/script ever); so WHY hasn't she been cast since around that time? A: She's terrible and B) She's box office POISON!
