Skip to 04:24. After the ratings, keep going to hear my thoughts on animatronics vs CGI.

Any thoughts?

I guess you feel sad that it failed in the box office.

Well, I think it's a great movie to watch. It's the definition of suspense and thriller, and it's quite interesting. :)

I saw this yesterday, and I thought it was quite clever how it fits in with the '82 version. Just rewatching the first 20 minutes of the old Thing right afterward puts a huge grin on my face.

I just checked.6 prequels have been nominated for Worst Prequel/Sequel* in the 17 years the category has existed:
-THE FLINTSTONES IN VIVA ROCK VEGAS.
-STAR WARS II.
-DUMB & DUMBERER.
-THE EXORCIST IV.
-THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE:THE BEGINNING.
-HANNIBAL RISING.

*Who knows how many have been nominated in other categories?

I think Dumb and Dumberer was a prequel.

Elizabeth Hartman and Judith Barsi are much more talented and beautiful than Scarlett Johansson and Chloe Grace Moretz. Fact.

Peter Travers gave it 2/4:

Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and Hannibal Rising were both up for Worst Prequel Or Sequel.

As for this movie, it was... meh. It wasn't too bad, but not very good. Mary Elizabeth Winstead was kinda wooden, but the only real nomination for this I can see is Worst Supporting Actor for Ulrich Thomsen, mainly because of his terrible performance in the second worst movie of the year. I gave it a B-.*

*I should mention that I graded the movie on its own merits. If I graded it compared to the Carpenter version, that grade would be a lot lower!

I'm asking because I found odd that no prequels have been nominated for Worst Prequel Or Sequel.Luckily, now I know.

Well the Star Wars prequels come to mind (except the last), even though all three of them are rated fresh on rotten tomatoes.

This movie is an abortion and needs a good kick in the crutch to kill it.

To even think of doing a sequel is retarded (which they wanted to do first)

Then to change tact and do a prequel is stupidityness in the whole history of stupidityness.

But the crowning turd in the pipe is to not even change the name, knowing that if they changed the name, no one would see it.
I think they kinda sound like Depeche Mode

Been there, done that, twice. At least the first time we got to see James Arness dressed up as a giant carrot. Astonishingly enough, his career survived. We can only hope the people responsible for yet another remake of this film are less fortunate.

James Berardinelli of Reelviews, arguably one of the best non-Ebert critics, gave this three stars out of four. Also, here's one of his Tweets from last Friday: "If the Phillies lose tonight, it will make today a really lousy day. The morning was already ruined by sitting through TRESPASS."
