For what do you think it should be nominated?

Not at all. You're the one writing the review. The format is up to you.

My Review for: NEED FOR SPEED

Almost everything in Need For Speed feels very forced and completely forgettable. This film is going to be hard to review not because it's god awful because it's just a bland movie trying very hard to be a Fast and Furious movie. Considering this movie is based off a video game, that is the first red flag. Let's take a look at "Need For Speed".

Toby Marshall (Aaron Paul) is of course a race car driver. He does a lot of illegal race in this small town (who knows where it is?) with his idiotic friends. Toby somehow gets framed for manslaughter and goes on this revenge race across the country to get into another race to save his mechanic business. Yeah this plot sounds like total bullsh*t to me. Remember how I said almost everything in this movie is forced? Well the plot is one of those things. I know I'm suppose to save the whole "worse thing about this movie" till last but I might as well get it out of the way here. The only thing that was important to the makers of this film was the Racing, car crashes and whatever else having to do with cars. The "story" of Need For Speed just isn't that interesting. Every single plot device feels very contrived and fake. It really does feel like watching a video game than actual motion picture and really that's the main reason Need For Speed fails.

Of course, a forced story also comes with forced and boring characters. Yeah every single character in this movie is as flat and as interesting as driftwood at sea. In fact I pretty much grew to hate most of them because these characters were annoying to listen to. I didn't care about anyone in this movie, even Toby himself. Both the character and Aaron Paul's performance aren't really good at all. He's mainly just trying to be a race car driver version of Batman. He's mainly a stiff humorless jerk the entire film. Everybody else in the cast are clearly trying their hardest, but it's not enough to make any of their characters interesting or 3 dimensional.

The only good thing about Need For Speed is the action scenes. The racing is quite exciting and those scenes are the only things in the film that feel real. I mean they should be there's supposedly no CGI when it comes to the Races and stunts. But again all the action in the world can't make this movie interesting and it doesn't hide the fact that this film is mainly style over substance. So even the good stuff in this film suffers a bit.

Need For Speed isn't the worst movie of the year, I have seen far worse in 2014. Still, the movie is just very... loud and dumb. The story is weak, the characters are 1 dimensional, the main character is freaking boring and of course the film as a whole is just filler until the next Car Chase.

I just saw it. For your consideration: Worst Screenplay. Oh, and maybe Worst Director and Worst Picture. But not:
-Worst Actor for Aaron Paul.
-Worst Actress (or Supp. Actress?) for Imogen Poots.
-Worst Supp. Actor for Michael Keaton (neither for ROBOCOP).
-Worst Screen Combo for Paul and Poots (that sounds kind of funny, right?).
-Worst Screen Ensemble.

Simple, if you remember the protagonists call their cars with female  "nicknames" , that's where the idea has sprung!

Maybe as Worst Screen Combo.
Elizabeth Hartman and Judith Barsi are more talented and beautiful than Scarlett Johansson and Chloe Grace Moretz. Fact.

Worst Supporting Actor: Brendan Fraser/Gimme Shelter and The Nut Job

Should we nominate all the fast cars of the film in the "worst supporting actress" category?
In my opinion they deserve this, seriously.

Why not Dominic Cooper, who is one of the blandest villains on film, or Scott "Kid Cudi" Mescudi, one of the most annoying Deus Ex Machinas ever?!

Who I think deserves to get nominations:

Worst Picture.

Worst Actor: Aaron Paul. There were a few scenes where he was convincing. However most of the time he barely showed significant emotions. He was quite tedious for most of the movie.

Worst Supporting Actress: Dakota Johnson. Just like Aaron Paul her performance was insipid.
Imogen Poots. Just like Dakota Johnson she did little to be convincing.

Worst Supporting Actor: Michael Keaton. A commentator is supposed to have some sort of characteristic that appeals to a large audience. Michael Keaton failed in being an appealing commentator.

Worst Director: Scott Waugh. It is obvious that all he did was sit/stand behind the sets and then hastefully stitch the scenes together.

Worst Screenplay: George Gatins. In addition to the screenplay consisting of dull dialogue the story's twists and turns are too preposterous to be overlooked.

Worst Screen Combination: Aaron Paul and Imogen Poots. There is little on-screen chemistry between them. This is because of the dull performances of Paul and Poots.

Directed by Michael Bay and M. Night Shyamalan comes...a movie guaranteed to win Razzies!

I got back from seeing this. I have 2 different perspectives of what I thought of the film.

From the perspective of a Need for Speed fan, I found it better than some of the recent games and dare I say it, this is what Need for Speed: Rivals should have been like to begin with. The script and dialogue are what I expected from the older games and I felt the film was nicely paced. The action was solid and well-handled.

From the perspective of a Razzie forum member, obviously the script could use some major "tune-ups" (Sorry, I felt like making that joke) and the acting I felt was alright and hilariously bad at the same time but it was expected from a video-game adaptation. The only nominations I would give are Worst Screenplay and Worst Supporting Actor for Dominic Cooper or Scott Mescudi.

NFS Fan Rating: 8/10
Razzie Forum Member Rating: 4/10

When you see or if you've seen the film already, what did you guys think? Who and what should or shouldn't be nominated for?

RT consensus: "With stock characters and a preposterous plot, this noisily diverting video game adaptation fulfills a Need for Speed and little else". (25%)

The JESS-MEISTER's TAKE on NEED FOR CRITERION GAMES... I MEAN SPEED:

OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS, THE ONCE-GOOD FRANCHISE WE CALL NEED FOR SPEED HAS BEEN GOING DOWN A RAPIDLY DARK DECLINE, BOTH QUALITY-WISE AND WITH THE FAN-BASE. EVERYONE LOVED PAST GAMES SUCH AS UNDERGROUND, MOST WANTED AND CARBON BUT THE FEATURES THAT MADE THEM SO GREAT HAD BEEN TAKEN AWAY BY ONE MAN AND THE STUDIO HE WORKED AT: CRAIG SULLIVAN AND... CRITERION GAMES. THEIR FIRST NEED FOR SPEED GAME, A RE-IMAGINING OF HOT PURSUIT WAS ALRIGHT BUT WHEN THE TIME THEIR NEXT GAME CAME OUT, THEIR TAKE ON MOST WANTED DREW MASSIVE CRITICISM FROM THE HARD-CORE NEED FOR SPEED FANS, BRINGING SUCH FEATURES AS SHORT CAREER PROGRESSION, NO CUSTOMISATION AND SHOVING IN DRIFTING FOR 2 YEAR-OLDS, OVER-LONG CRASHING CUT-SCENES AND UN-REALISTIC JUMPS.

WITH A NEW STUDIO AT THE READY, NEED FOR SPEED: RIVALS LOOKED LIKE IT COULD'VE WON BACK SOME OF THE FANS BUT INSTEAD, WE GOT A SORRY-A** EXCUSE FOR CUSTOMISATION, THE SAME SH*T FROM MOST WANTED MENTIONED BEFORE AND A GAME SO BUGGY WHICH WAS CLEARLY NOT PLAY-TESTED ENOUGH TO MAKE SURE IT WAS MOSTLY FREE OF GAME-BREAKING BUGS, IT WAS RUSHED OUT ON TO THE MARKET TO TRY AND ATTEMPT TO MAKE QUICK BUCKS IN THE HOLIDAY SEASON BY NONE OTHER THAN TWO-TIME WORST COMPANY IN AMERICA "WINNER" ELECTRONIC ARTS (WORSER KNOWN AS EA!). SOME CONSIDERABLE TIME LATER AFTER THE GAME'S INITIAL RELEASE, THEY DIDN'T REALISE THAT THEIR GAME FLOPPED AND IN AN ATTEMPT TO TRY TO SQUEZZE MORE MONEY OUT OF US (BECAUSE THEY JUST LOVE WIPING MONEY ALL OVER THEIR F*CKING GREEDY A***S!), THEY SCAM US AND OVER-CHARGE FOR 2 CARS EACH WITHOUT ACTUALLY ADDING NEW CONTENT FOR US TO COMPLETE.

AND NOW, BECAUSE EA JUST CAN'T GET GREEDY ENOUGH, THEY ARE NOW TRYING TO ENTER THE WORLD OF GAME-BASED FILMS. YEAH, BECAUSE EVERY ONE OF THOSE HAVE SUCCEEDED BEFORE, RIGHT? ANYWAYS, DIRECTOR SCOTT WAUGH (WHO PREVIOUSLY DIRECTED ACT OF VALOUR, WHICH LOOKED LIKE EVERY SINGLE GENERIC MILITARY SHOOTER GAME OUT THERE) CLAIMS THAT THIS ADAPTATION OF NEED FOR SPEED IS "ACCURATE" AND "AUTHENTIC" TO REAL CAR RACING CULTURE (YEAH, BECAUSE "REAL" STREET RACERS RACE IN BUGATTI VEYRONs AND KOENIGSEGG AGERA Rs, RIGHT?). TO ADD TO THAT, YOU HAVE SH*TTY $300K CAR "REPLICAS" THAT LOOK NOTHING LIKE THE CARS THEY'RE BASED OFF, A BLAND ONE-DIMENSIONAL CAST OF ACTORS (EXCEPT FOR THE TALENTED AARON PAUL) AND A DULL, CHEESY SCRIPT WRITTEN BY AN OSCAR NOMINEE OUT OF ALL PEOPLE!!!

I WISH I COULD EXPLAIN MORE WITH YOU, BUT I MUST STOP NOW AS I'M IN... HOT PURSUIT RIGHT NOW SO, DO YOU THINK NEED FOR SPEED WILL CROSS THE LINE AND HELP EA BECOME THE MOST WANTED RAZZIE WINNER OF 2014? WILL THEY OVER-REV THE FILM TO THE POINT OF WHERE IT WILL "BLOW" THE FRANCHISE'S ENGINE? WELL, GET EVERYONE DRIFTING AND BEGIN YOUR RIVALRY WITH THE FILM NOW!!!

FIRST, I'M GONNA TAKE AWAY ANY CHANCE OF THE SCRIPT AND ACTING BEING DECENT, THEN I'M GONNA ADD SOME DRIFTING, CRASHING AND JUMPS. GET READY FOR THAT!
