I just saw the AEON FLUX trailer at http://www.themoviebox.net/ and I was surprised to see that Frances McDormand has a role in this. The thing is, she looks like she's on crack!! She has a combination afro/dreadlocks in her hair, and looks out with a wild-eyed creepy stare. Another Oscar winner in need of house payments?

Another point about modern pictures that I dislike--the endless end titles.
In Classics, you got a slide that said THE END and maybe a listing of the
cast. Now, EVERYONE gets a credit, even the caterers and the cleanup crews
while 3 or 4 songs play in the background. It's just like out of Alice in
Wonderland--the Red Queen says "All must have a prize". These long end
titles just make a mediocre experience even MORE mediocre!

The longest rolling title sequence can be found in the extended edition of RETURN OF THE KING, on which anyone who contributed money to the stupid fanclub received a spot.

On an unrelated note, who else thinks that the upcoming DOOM movie is going to suck?

I'm not holding my breath. I liked The Rock when he was with WWE and I've always been a fan of the PC game. But I still say they should have had Bruce Campbell in the lead! He's no stranger to the chainsaw and shotgun and he'd be great with the one-liners.

Well, since you brought up Bruce Campbell, I'm afraid that I have some awful, terrible, homicide-inducing news: The original EVIL DEAD movie is going to be remade.

"I am Jack's total lack of surprise." They seem to be remaking every low budget horror movie these days. As long as they never, EVER remake THE THING. They've already remade two John Carpenter movies. Please no more!

You do realize that John Carpenter's THE THING is itself a REMAKE -- Of 1951's THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD, in which James Arness plays the alien, and which producer Howard Hawks is often credited as having actually directed...

As for the 2005 remake of THE FOG, I don't get WHY they bothered. While I am one of the 17 preople who actually LOVED the 1980 Carpenter version   it was actually considered a BOMB in its original release...

I'm one of the others that liked THE FOG too. In fact if you do a search at Amazon.com you'll find my Essential John Carpenter list.

John Carpenter was himself a fan of the original THE THING and also a fan of Howard Hawks. In Carpenter's ASSUALT ON PRECINCT 13, the character Napoleon Wilson gets a shotgun tossed to him ala RIO BRAVO/RED RIVER. When Carpenter was peddling the script, it stated that it was written by "John T. Chance," the name of John Wayne's character in RIO BRAVO...

The HRIC (Head RAZZberry in Charge) recommended that I post a link to my Essential John Carpenter list. Here it is:

I'm glad you included PRINCE OF DARKNESS, because not many people know about it (and it certainly deserved a Razzie mention!).

Yeah You gotta love cheesy horror movies with unexplainable endings. Plus the added bonus of over-the-hill rock stars like Alice Cooper. Who's next? Ozzy?

This just in: QUEER EYE FOR THE STRAIGHT GUY has been greenlit for a motion picture, to be released sometime in 2006.
