I'm not a Razzie judge. And besides, what are you talking about, "trouble with the LA Times"? Has Tommy Gurl bought that paper?

I think he means we (the Razzies) have some kind of heat with LA Times, although what he is talking about, I don't know.

PS: Tommy Boy was on the "Today Show" this morning, and was surprisingly calm. Must have been a robot double in his place.

You mean he was surprisingly "calm" instead of "claim"? Whatever Tommy Gurl was, he was certainly not eloquent. He didn't behave like the great asshole like the last time, but everybody knows that he put on that humble pose because he has a movie coming up in three days.

And what was he doing at the newsdesk? I mean, who does that?  Did you notice that Tommy Gurl and Matt Lauer could hardly look each other in the eyes in that take?

Anyway, HeadRAZZBerry, I think this deserves reconsideration. I mean, will you guys really let Tommy Gurl's Santa Claus von Stuffedbird get away with THAT accent?

Please, forgive my poor English. It's not my native language.

I think there is a big picture to be considered here. We can't focus on a few targets to the exclusion of all else out there. If we are going to confine ourselves to smacking Cruise and a few others every time they make a film, the future of the Razzies is going to be dismal and boring. Sometimes, you have to give the devil his due: Cruise may not have been great in this film, but by most accounts, his performance was reasonably above those of many more deserving targets. He evidently has made the cut and will appear on the initial ballot but I rather suspect that he won't make the final five.

Well, Tommy Gurl made it into the nominating ballot, right? Very satisfactory! Thank you, HeadRAZZBerry.

It would be even more satisfactory if Darth Twinky gets a Razzie for the very role that was intended to be his Oscar performance. That's what I call a "big picture"!

My sister's interested in seeing this.  If she comes back with a negative response, I'll consider it for nomination.

Here's a funny tidbit I found on IMDb's News section.

Cruise's top ten of the craziest things written about him on the internet is as follows:

10. I sleep upside-down suspended in a special bat-like harness

9. During the filming of Days of Thunder, on a dare, I ate a tyre

8. I still wear those underpants from Risky Business

7. My real name is Tom Blagojevich

6. I once Heimliched a koala

5. Once a month, I take the Universal tour naked

4. I believe all emotional and psychological disorders can be cured with Vicks Vapo Rub

3. I'm a power-mad ego maniac who's completely insulated from reality - oh wait, that's Letterman.

2. After jumping on her couch, Oprah hammer-locked me until I coughed blood.

1. I keep a cell phone in my pants so I can tell friends to call my a**.

#4 and #8 are the most funny (and most likely), my opinion.

I will nominate it, that's for sure. As far as his appearance in the Letterman show is concerned, this by the adorable JS:

"Tom Cruise went on David Letterman and made fun of himself by reading a Top Ten list of things people say about Tom Cruise on the internet:

http://gawker.com/5111958...eing-insane-scientologist

Tom Cruise made my point exactly: He avoided completely the real issues of Scientology's inhumanity, the attacks on its critics, and its spiritual and financial rape of its own members. Instead, Tom's charm offensive is Propitiation and Needing Bodies on the Tone Scale. This is very low.

Tom refuses to address the real issues about Scientology by "going along with the joke." The problem is that there was a fierce repudiation of Scientology and Tom Cruise inherent in all of the jokes and Tom doesn't get it. Humiliating himself by doing stupid pet tricks, so to speak, does not get Tom off the hook. It only digs the hole deeper.

It is a contradiction for Tom Cruise to be doing vapid comedy on television while wanting to sell his movie about a very serious subject. Unfortunately, Tom has betrayed his desperation and fear. We all see a man who is afraid.

(...)

Tom, I urge you to become the Von Stauffenberg of Scientology; Sacrifice yourself to prevent more people from being destroyed by Scientology and Dave Miscavige.

Mr. Cruise, if you really want to be in an actual resistance movement, if you want to be part of an underground where you in particular will face real danger, then get yourself declared an SP and join us in our fight. Fight Scientology with us. I am always available to help:

Two things to think about while you're laughing at, er, enjoying the immense acting talents of Tom Cruise in the movie Valkyrie:

Anonymous, a huge group of computer folks who in the past have taken on a white supremacist's radio show and an online sexual predator, are now taking on the Church of Scientology.  One of their efforts was to stage a protest at the premiere of Valkyrie, a protest which they almost bungled.  Here's a link to an MSNBC article.  The premiere was schedule to take place at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York, which Anonymous assumed was at the Lincoln Center in New York, but instead it was located a few blocks away in a completely different police precinct.  They successfuly got the permit and showed up, but Cruise didn't talk to them.

Next, is the incredulous news from an anonymous (little "a") source at Los Angeles radio station K-Earth that United Artists offered a family and friends screening of Valkyrie at Tom Cruise's home if everyone agreed to say nice things about the film.  Here's a link to an MSNBC article.  If this report is true, I can imagine any number of us taking up on the offer with our fingers crossed behind our backs. . . .

HeadRAZZBerry, I already returned my ballot, and I cannot remember.  Did this year's ballot include in "Worst Couple" Tom Cruise AND his non-existent German accent, or does the "worst couple" category involve only things that actually appear in a movie? . . .

The only thing I remember associated with "Valkyrie" was Tom Cruise under Worst Actor.  By the way, of those 72 prospects you had listed (or have forums), over thirty didn't make the first cut.

Yes, haven't we been telling you that for the past six months?

Yeah, but some of the films you snubbed left me concerned.

Well, as I stated in another section of the forum, I was surprised that "One Missed Call" got away from being razzed all together, but I think all the movies which deserve to get Razzed were among those that could be chosen. Although I still believe that starting next year, Worst On-Screen Couple should be replaced with Worst Ensemble Cast; a little jab at the SAG-gie Awards as well as the Oscars.

At the height of WW2, a group of high-ranking German officers hatched a
plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler, and seize power of the military
command in order to end the war. The operation was codenamed
"Valkyrie", for the emergency plan that was meant to be used in case of
a revolt against the Nazi government.

Let me get to the point: Don't let the trailer for the film fool you.
Don't let the director fool you. Don't even let Tom Cruise fool you.
What's being advertised as a nail-biting, suspenseful film, many people
will be disappointed that "Valkyrie" is more like the opposite. It's not
a bad film, honestly. I enjoyed it but when watching the film, get
ready to hear a lot of coughing in the audience to break the silence
throughout the film.

The movie is actually two separate films: The first half is actually
the planning of Hitler's assassination. Due to the film being built
upon this secret plan, none of the "action" really starts until the
second half. That's where the problem lies. The first film is
pretty...uneventful. The second half, although much more exciting and
more things happening, is still not as "action packed" as you hope it
to be.

I guess if you're a person who likes dialog to fill the screen for the
first half and some action the second, you'll enjoy it. It's great,
actually, because the film doesn't need mindless action to fill up the
running time, which is partly the reason why I liked the film. However,
if you want it like Bryan Singer's previous efforts, you'll be
disappointed.

I won't be surprised if the majority of the people find this film
boring and too talky. I won't blame them for expecting something much
more like shown in the trailer. However, it's based on a true story so
you know the filmmakers were trying to keep it true, although maybe
changing a few things for the silver screen. Tom Cruise does a decent
job as Stauffenberg, the mastermind behind the plan, although not an
Oscar worthy performance (that would go to his performance in "Tropic
Thunder," of course). Everyone else also do a decent job for what they
have.

In the end, although not as big as the advertising make it out to be,
along with the names on the movie, the film is, in my opinion, what I
call, passable entertainment and important history for people to learn,
if they hadn't known already. The film is more a psychological film
than an action blockbuster starring Tom Cruise. Yes, I'll admit, it's
Cruise and Singer's weaker efforts but you can't deny them for trying
their best for what they have. 6/10

Really, 6 out of 10? So in other words, this movie is on par with "Disaster Movie"?
